Many times, breast cancer doesn't hurt in its early stages. A lot of women with breast cancer first notice a lump or growth in their breasts or underarms that doesn't hurt. But if the cancer gets worse or spreads to nearby tissues, it may hurt or make you feel uncomfortable.
The pain can be different for each person and may feel like a dull ache, soreness, or a sharp sense. Treatments for breast cancer, like surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy, can also have side effects, such as pain or soreness. It is important for people to tell their doctor right away about any new or strange changes in their breasts or pain. Self-checks, professional exams, and scans should all be done on a regular basis to find and treat breast cancer early.
